The Files app lets you have all your documents accessible from any device.
It was the year 2017 when Apple released its version of the operating system for iPhone which it named iOS 15. During WWDC in June, we could already have a glimpse of what this new version would be. One of the new things it incorporated was the Files app, which automatically started getting praise from users. The way to have all your documents, videos or photos accessible from any device has finally arrived. We invite you to know what Archivos is and how you can take advantage of it to always have everything at your fingertips.
What are files?
This app lets you have all the files you want located locally, or make them accessible from the iCloud cloud itself or any third-party cloud. Yes, one of the most important features of this application is that you can activate your Box, Dropbox, OneDrive, Adobe Creative Cloud or Google Drive account among many others. This way you have everything at hand. Files work with the classic folder configuration used by Mac or Windows. To move anything there, just drag it to a folder you’ve already created in Files. There it will be stored at your disposal whenever you want.
As an Apple user, one of the most comfortable ways to work is to move all your files to iCloud, the company’s own cloud. However, the main downside is that you only get 5GB free, so if you want to store more stuff, you’ll have no choice but to checkout and upgrade to the different plans. I’ve always thought that Apple should give you as many free gigabytes as the device you bought has. In other words, if you buy a 256 GB iPhone, he should give you that amount in his cloud. In case you had different Apple devices, the one with the highest capacity could be taken as a reference.
Either way, you get 50GB for $0.99, 200GB for $2.99, and 2TB for $9.99 each month. But as we told you before, in the files you can save another cloud that you are already using, so you will save this expense. When we save the files in the cloud, we have the advantage of having them accessible from any of our devices, including your Mac computer if you use iCloud.
Benefits of using Archives
As we said, the most obvious benefit is accessibility. For example, I have the 2TB iCloud plan, but I backed up absolutely everything there. All my photographic archives are there, as well as the documents I use on a daily basis.
The main advantage is that if I want to show a photo to a friend, I can do this from my iPhone or iPad just by going to the corresponding folder. This way I saw the big mistake of having everything backed up locally. Which, as we can see in this article about having everything on your phone, can be a big problem for us.
The files also allow you organize all your folders with colorful labels, to which you can refine the name you want and thus have everything well located in a very graphic way. For example, you can use a red label for photo folders, a blue label for work papers, and a green label for glass. The possibilities are virtually endless, but there’s no doubt that this ability to customize is always greatly appreciated.
Perhaps another advantage that is useful and that Archivos has is that of being able to share what you want with the people you need. This is something very useful when it comes to sharing work documents, you just have to enter your email to be notified and work in real time. Although you can also share whatever you want via AirDrop or iMessage app. Something similar to what Google Drive offers us, for example.
You know, if you have that blue folder icon that you’re not paying attention to, It is highly recommended to start using it. It doesn’t matter if you’re not moving around in a work environment, you can store all your files in the app and make them accessible from anywhere. Personally, I’ve been using it for five years, and it’s practically the only system I use to be able to store my files safely and always have it at hand. Files one of the great advances of iOS and which allows you great comfort.
