Your Apple Watch does not connect to your iPhone? These could be the solutions.
Usually, the Apple ecosystem works in a very simple way, since all devices connect to each other without doing a complicated process. But this does not happen on all occasions, and often our devices simply stop working.
Some users have found that the Apple Watch sometimes stops syncing completely with iPhone, losing some of the most interesting features of the technological device. Fortunately, this can be solved very easily.
Apple Watch does not connect to iPhone. Possible solutions
When this happens you will see that on the screen you will see the icon ‘iPhone disconnected’ in red. If this happens, it means that the communication between the watch and the iPhone does not exist and you will not be able to perform actions such as seeing the weather, breaking news, receiving general notifications and synchronizing or reading from music not downloaded to apple watch.
Has this happened to you? We leave you some possible solutions.
Restart Apple Watch and iPhone
This solution can work in most cases, and It’s just a matter of turning devices on and off (yes, the old trick that still works) to try to link them correctly. But, for greater success, this process must be followed.
- Turn off Apple Watch using the side button (not the crown).
- Power off the iPhone completely.
- Turn on the iPhone and wait for it to boot completely.
- Unlock the iPhone to see the mobile home screen, then turn on the Apple Watch.
- The two devices should be linked automatically, so the problem would be solved.
This steps they wouldn’t have to erase Apple Watch dataand the only thing that would happen is that some real-time data such as steps, calories burned or recent workouts would not be updated.
Unpair Apple Watch
If the reset does not work and the Apple Watch does not connect to the iPhone, then you should unlink it to see if you have better luck. This is done as follows:
- Open the ‘Watch’ app on the iPhone.
- Select ‘My watch’ then ‘All watches’.
- Tap the “i” button right next to the Apple Watch you want to unpair.
- Choose “Unpair Apple Watch” and confirm the action.
- Now you will need to reconfigure the Apple Watch by holding it close to the iPhone and following the onscreen instructions.
Note that this solution may cause lose data that was not saved in the cloudas you may even be prompted to make a backup before unlinking.
erase iphone
If none of the tutorials above worked, then you would have to erase the device to be able to connect the Apple Watch to the iPhone. You do it like this:
- From the Apple Watch, navigate to the Settings menu.
- Now select “General”, and among all the options there will be the “Reset” section.
- It will ask you for your access code to enter the next menu.
- Press “Erase everything” and the Apple Watch will be like new.
Remember that this step will erase all watch data, including cover art, music, screenshots, and workout preferences. In fact, these are the steps you need to follow in case you want to sell your Apple Watch in the future.
Once the watch is completely removed, bring the device closer to the iPhone again and follow the instructions on your screen. This should reconnect it to your mobile and this should be the final fix for any communication issues.
In case no solution is effective, it means that there may be problems with the Bluetooth of the Apple Watchit would therefore have to be taken to an Apple Store to be checked and, if necessary, repaired.
These solutions are effective only in case of problems connecting Apple Watch with iPhone. Although the Apple Watch can be used on Android, the connectivity and solutions are different, so it is necessary to contact Apple for a better solution or a possible repair appointment.
