The virtual keyboard of the iPad is a real marvel. Throughout this last decade, Apple has modified and improved it little by little, including functions as interesting as the split keyboard, the floating keyboard, the touch gestures of the keyboard or all the functionalities of its toolbar.
However, some bugs in some operating system software updates may prevent the iPad virtual keyboard from showing up. My iPad keyboard does not appear, what should I do?
If your iPad keyboard is not appearing onscreen, it could be due to a bug, incompatibility issues with specific apps, or some other system failure. These methods will help you fix the problem.
restart an app
Are you using an application on your iPad and when you press on a text field the keyboard does not appear? The quickest and most effective solution in these cases is to simply restart the application. Close it, reopen it and see if the keyboard appears on the iPad screen.
Restart the iPad
If the previous solution does not work, it is better to restart the iPad. Undoubtedly, this is the alternative that usually solves the most problems. All running processes and system resources will be exhausted, so when you restart everything should be like new. restart press and hold the lock button and a volume button until the message to turn off the iPad appears.
Remove external keyboard

Reset keyboard dictionary
Finally, another of the possible solutions to the problem that the keyboard does not appear on the iPad screen is to reset the dictionary, loading its contents could prevent it from working correctly.
- open Settings on iPadOS.
- Enter the section General.
- click on Transfer or Reset iPad (below).
- Then click on Restore.
- Choose the option Reset keyboard dictionary and restart your iPad.
