Sometime after doing it on Android, WhatsApp finally adds the ability to use “Access Keys” or “Access Keys” in its version for iPhone, increasing the security of your account and preventing other people from pretending to be you.
Even though iOS added PassKeys a while ago (already in iOS 16), the most popular messaging app in this part of the world, WhatsApp, decided to launch this feature first in its Android version. Now you have decided that it is the right time to add it to the iPhone version, and little by little more and more users can activate it on their devices. Like everything WhatsApp adds as new, It doesn’t come to everyone at the same time, so if you don’t have it yet you’ll have to wait a few days
What are Access Keys or Access Keys?
This is a more secure form of identification than creating a password, since what you use to protect your account is directly your fingerprint, your face or another identification system such as security keys. No password involved may be disclosed.Your account is only accessible via your “physical” identification system. It is therefore a much safer method than using your mobile phone number to send an SMS, since anyone who duplicates your SIM (and we have already seen that it is not too complicated) could have access to your account.
The advantage of PassKeys or Access Keys is that sync and save to iCloud, so you can use them on any device you have associated with your account, and if you lose your phone, by adding your iCloud account to the new one you will have access to it again. So this is a new system for identifying and protecting your accounts that is quite safe, comfortable and that we should all start using in the services that allow it.
How are passkeys or passkeys activated?
It’s very simple, provided that WhatsApp has added it to your account. You need to go to WhatsApp settings, Enter the “Account>Passwords” menu and there click on the “Create password” button. You will only need to use your face or fingerprint to create the passcode, nothing else needed. From this moment on, when you activate your WhatsApp account, you will no longer receive messages on your mobile phone, but you will use your face or fingerprint to identify yourself.
