The most popular messaging app is finally gearing up to include profile photos of whoever sends us a message in notifications, and we can already see it in its beta.
If we receive a message through iMessage, Apple’s messaging platform, we can see the sender’s profile picture. The same happens if we receive it through Telegram. If the message is from a group, then the profile image we will see will be that of the group in question. What seems basic is not yet implemented in WhatsApp, but it finally looks like it’s going to end as we just saw in the version of WhatsApp Beta that just arrived at TestFlight.
The well-known messaging app, the most popular in many countries around the world, is already trying to include user profile pictures in the notifications we get on our iPhone and Apple Watch. As you can see in the header image, my message notifications include Miguel’s photo, which is not that it is seen at magnificent resolution, but it serves to quickly identify who the sender is without having to read the name. As in other applications, if the message is received at a group, the profile image that we will see will not be that of the sender but that of the group to which it was sent.
This novelty is currently only available for those testing the beta of WhatsApp. Hopefully, it will take less than the expected iPad app, which we’ve been talking about for years and WhatsApp seemed almost ready. Once this feature is accessible to everyone, you will not have to do anything to activate it.This will be how you receive notifications of the messages you receive.
