Facebook is implementing a novelty in the pursuit of internet freedom in WhatsApp.
There are governments in some countries around the world that have the power to block access to web pages and even applications such as WhatsApp.
That’s right, the most popular messaging app in the world… not available worldwide. This is the case of Iran, which recently banned the use of WhatsApp after the death of a civilian at the hands of local authorities.
Fortunately, Facebook has come to the rescue of its users and has launched a very interesting novelty in WhatsApp that allows you to avoid blocking and censorship through proxy servers.
WhatsApp will let you use a connection through proxy servers
Internet freedom should be imperative, mandatory, unavoidable. Unfortunately, this is not the case in all cases. Internet users’ rights have been violated many times, and normally this usually happens through censorship.
Now, WhatsApp offers a plan B. A connection via a proxy that will allow you to bypass any censorship at the instigation of governments.
Here’s how WhatsApp described the app’s new feature:
“Choosing a proxy allows you to connect to WhatsApp through servers set up by volunteers and organizations around the world dedicated to helping people communicate freely.”
To use proxy servers, make sure you have the latest WhatsApp update installed. The latest addition to the instant messaging app is available on iOS and Android.
How proxy connection works in WhatsApp is relatively simple. Users must enter the address of a proxy server. Additionally, WhatsApp’s tech support has taken the trouble to provide a guide on how to establish a proxy server in order to connect to WhatsApp.
WhatsApp chat conversations through proxy servers will be protected with end-to-end encryption.
“Our wish for 2023 is that these internet shutdowns never happen again. Disruptions like the ones we have seen in Iran for months deny human rights and fail to allow people to receive urgent help. “
So yes, from WhatsApp they have earned all our respect. As we mentioned earlier, internet freedom should be imperative. Fortunately, as the expression indicates “make the law make the trap”there are always alternative methods that allow you to enjoy free and uncensored internet again with the help of virtual heroes.
