The app will let you automatically transcribe audio messages into text messages.
WhatsApp developers are working on implementing a function that will allow users of iPhone and Android smartphones transcribe audio messages or voice notes into text messages, according to WaBetaInfo. A feature that will essentially offer the possibility of “reading audio messages” from WhatsApp.
There is no doubt that this is a very convenient feature for many users. Especially in situations where a user doesn’t have time to listen to a voice note or doesn’t want to play the audio at a higher speed so as not to disturb people around them.
WhatsApp Messenger will include transcriptions of voice notes into text messages
Recently, the representatives of the messaging app announced a future update with some very interesting new features for statuses like reactions with emojis, link previews, voice statuses or ringtones for profile pictures. Now an even more exciting feature has been leaked, audio message transcription.
The WhatsApp Messenger app will automatically identify the language of the voice note and run the transcription to turn the audio into text in reverse, for example, Siri is able to read content from a website. According to beta information, transcripts will be processed in the device itself
The new function of transcribing voice notes into text messages belongs to the version 2.23.3.73 of WhatsApp Messenger
As you can see in the WaBetaInfo screenshot we attached to this article, the developers have included a presentation menu to explain when the audio note transcription system is not available. If the system detects that it is in a language different from that established in the configuration, the words of the audio message will not be recognized.
As mentioned, the audio notes to text feature is in beta and will be released in a future update via iOS App Store and Android Play Store.
