With 2019 coming to an end, we are focusing more on 2020 and what Apple may have under its purse as it enters the new decade. If you're wondering when Apple's next event will take place, what products will Apple announce and if there will be another Apple special event soon, read on!
When is Apple events handled?
Typically, Apple hosts several events throughout the year, one in the spring, one in the summer, one in September and one in October. Some years there is no spring event and some years Apple skips the October event, as it does in 2019, but you can expect coordinates such as the one we propose below:
- March, or spring (education and art issues, often include iPads)
- June (WWDC – mostly softwareanother time hardware high end / pro)
- September (iPhones and Apple Watches)
- October (certain iPads and Macs are picked up for buyers)
However, Apple doesn't always need an event to launch a new product. In 2019, there were several new products to be launched without the event, including the new iPad Air and iPad mini in March, the iPod touch update in May, the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air updates in July, the arrival of AirPods Pro in October . and the 16-inch MacBook Pro in November.
Here's what you can expect at Apple's next event: when it will take place and products and services that can be announced.
Which is the next Apple event
As we mentioned earlier, Apple's biggest events usually happen about four times a year, so it looks like the next event will be in March 2020.
Based on previous years, we predict Monday, March 23, 2020, or at least that week:
- 2019, Monday March 25
- 2018, Tuesday March 27th
- 2017, no events in March
- 2016, Monday, March 21
- 2015, Monday March 9
- In 2014, there will be no event in March
- 2013, excluding March events
- 2012, Wednesday March 7th
- 2011, Wednesday, March 2
- 2010, Thursday, April 8 (there was an event in January of that year)
Next we will look at what Apple can announce at the event. We also have a prediction article that goes through Apple's plans for 2020.
What will Apple announce at the spring of 2020?
In the past, Apple has made important announcements at spring events. In 2015, Apple hosted an "Spring Forward" event on March 9, where it announced pricing and release dates for the first Apple Watch and introduced the 12-inch MacBook. On March 21, 2016, at the & # 39; Let's stretch it out for you & # 39 ;, we got the iPhone SE, iPad Pro 9.7 and iOS 9.3.
Spring 2017 has been a little disappointing for fans and Apple fans: instead of a complete event, the company has quietly closed its store online then posted a media forum announcing the launch of the 2017 iPad and iPhone 7 red.
In 2018, Apple hosted an education-focused event on March 27 at a Chicago school. The company makes a series of announcements including the new iPad (with the support of Apple Pencil), updates to Pages, Numbers and Keynote, and GarageBand. In addition to talking long and hard about what you can do for teachers and students.
Based on what we expect to see in the spring of 2020, we're waiting for new iPads and we're able to see a return to the smaller iPhone.
IPhone SE 2
After launching the iPhone XR, XS and XS Max in September 2018, Apple stopped producing the iPhone SE, much to its disappointment. SE was a popular iPhone, being the smallest and cheapest one offered.
However, rumors suggest that Apple may still be able to launch a low cost SE SE – even though it may not be a small phone. Usually, analyst Ming Chi Kuo suggested that the new iPhone SE could be based on the iPhone 8 and could arrive in the spring of 2020. There are many people who expect these rumors to be true.
IPad Pro
There has not been a new Apple Pro since October 2018, so we'll see a new one in early 2020. Learn more about the new Pro here.
Tag object tracking
Graphic assets found in iOS 13 internal betas suggest that Apple will introduce some sort of object tracker soon. This small disk or sticker will be used for keys, wallets and other essentials, and can be tracked in the & # 39; Get My & # 39;
We thought there was a chance we might have seen this at a September event, but it wasn't a show. An event in November could be the next great place (though maybe next spring is in danger).
Apple Mini TV
Now that Apple has its own TV + subscription service, how about a smaller and cheaper Apple TV? If Apple wants to reach more people with its services, a dongle allowing them to transmit Apple's new content to their televisions would be an important part of the equation.
Alternatively, Apple has already reached an agreement with several television producers to allow AirPlay 2 compatibility on their television, so they may not have to use Apple TV to stream Apple's new content. Even Roku and Amazon are adding a new service to their devices.
New HomePod and HomePod mini
There are rumors that Apple is preparing to introduce the new HomePod and possibly a HomePod mini. Lastly maybe it's a cheat, but that approach may have helped Apple gain market share in the space of smart speakers.
Headphones are great
New AirPods announced in early 2019 arrive and the arrival of AirPods Pro in October 2019, but it is also said that the company is planning to introduce some new headphones that we can see in the spring of 2020.
Mac mini update
No new Mac mini in 2019, as four years had passed since the last update, which may not be surprising. But we expect Apple to move us by the beginning of 2020.
WWDC 2020
WWDC represents the World Developer Conference. This is usually an event focused on software, when Apple announces key features in its annual program update to benefit third-party developer partners who will need to update their software to interact with the new operating system.
WWDC tickets are allocated for the votes you need to cast if you wish to receive WWDC tickets by 2020. You can also see the WWDC from your home.
Based on recent years, we expect the WWDC to fall by June 8.
- 2019, Monday June 3rd
- 2018, Monday June 4th
- 2017, Monday June 5th
- 2016, Monday June 13
- 2015, Monday June 8th
- 2014, Monday June 2nd
- 2013, Monday June 10
- 2012, Monday June 11th
- 2011, Monday June 6
- 2010, Monday June 7th
What can we expect from WWDC 2020?
At WWDC 2019 Apple told us about iOS 13 and MacOS Catalina. He has also introduced a new Mac Pro and a new screen. At WWDC 2018 we learned about iOS 12 and macOS Mojave. There were no updates to hardware At that event.
At WWDC 2017 we learned about iOS 11 and MacOS 10.13 High Sierra. We also saw for the first time the new Mac Pro, introduced along with the introduction of the new iMacs as well as the updated MacBook Pro and MacBook Pro.
Therefore, it is not necessary to be prudent to predict that WWDC 2020 will include updates to Apple's operating systems. And it could include the emergence of new Macs. What are the new Macs?
The new iMac – with a new design!
The iMac has been looking like a decade, the change is too slow and by 2020 may be the last year we can see.
This is what we hope to see on the iMac by 2020.
MacBook
Apple did not update the MacBook in 2018 or 2019.
Well, we think Apple has something in its lineup and we might be seeing a completely new MacBook somewhere in the future, read the rumors about the new MacBook here.
Apple's iPhone 2020 event
The September Apple event usually marks Apple's year. This is when the company launches new iPhones (even though previous iPhones were released periodically in the spring or WWDC).
The Apple Watch often gets updates on this event as well, and we can expect the company to announce the public release dates for the next versions of macOS and iOS (which were shown in WWDC, but were not published in their final version).
By 2020 we expect Apple to introduce the iPhone 5G. Otherwise, we don't know much, but we'll make sure to update it as we get more.
As for the date of the 2020 event, we expect September 8 or 9, 2020, based on the dates of previous years events:
- 2019, Tuesday, September 10th
- 2018, Wednesday, September 12
- 2017, Tuesday, September 12th
- 2016, Wednesday, September 7th
- 2015, Wednesday, September 9th
- 2014, Tuesday, September 9th
- 2013, Tuesday, September 10th
- 2012, Wednesday, September 12
The October 2020 event
Apple usually hosted an event in October when, over the years, we saw how the company introduced iPads and Macs. In 2018 we saw Apple update the iPad Pro and we introduced the new MacBook Air and Mac mini, a consumer-made Mac that has been overlooked for a long time.
But there was no event in October 2019. Does that mean there will be no more Apple key notes in 2019? Possibly. It's not always an October event, as you'll see if you check out our list of October events of recent years:
- In 2019, there is no event in October
- 2018, Tuesday October 30th
- 2017, excluding October events
- 2016, Thursday, October 27
- In 2015, there is no event in October
- 2014, Thursday, October 16
- 2013, Tuesday October 22nd
- 2012, Tuesday October 23rd
- 2011, Tuesday, October 4
The lack of an event in October isn't really surprising. Apple has updated almost all of its Macs this year, with the exception of the iMac Pro and Mac mini, as well as the already discarded MacBook. And even though the iPad Pro hasn't been updated, the 10.2-inch iPad hasn't been updated until September.
We expect Apple to start selling the new Mac Pro and accompanying the XDR Display at any time, but Apple has already revealed all the details of the new Mac earlier this year, so it looks like it's not expected to have another important event.
However, there have been rumors that a new 16-inch MacBook Pro will soon be released. In early 2019, Apple's analyst, Ming Chi Kuo, suggested that the new MacBook could be launched before the end of 2019.
It is thought that there was a professional launch event for the launch of the 16-inch MacBook Pro, Mac Pro, Mac Pro, XDR Display and the new iPad Pros.
