The iPhone 9 never existed and we don’t know the official reasons why it happened, but there are different theories on the subject.
Apple’s strategy with iPhone names in recent years is almost as chaotic as that of colors. Traditionally, after a version with a number, we had a version with the letter “S”, but this did not happen with the transition from iPhone 7 to 8, and, by the way, left the “iPhone 9” completely gone.
It’s not just that Apple didn’t introduce iPhone 7s, it introduced two models and named them iPhone 8 and iPhone X, no trace of iPhone 9. A name that wasn’t used in the next generation either, in which we jumped to the iPhone XS and iPhone XR. So we thought Apple decided to leave the numbers behind, but then they introduced the iPhone 11, 12, and 13.

Why didn’t the iPhone 9 come out?
Apple has made no statement as to why. i skipped the iphone 9. However, there is speculation trying to explain why this happened.
1. It was the 10th anniversary of the iPhone
This would explain why the iPhone X was called that (read iPhone ten, not iPhone ‘x’), and not iPhone 9. The iPhone X was borrowed in 2017, 10 years after the launch of the original iPhone in 2007.

2. Show that it was an important update
Calling it iPhone X, and dialing it with an “X” instead of a number, gave it more importance to the model as a device which meant a changea before and after in the iPhone range.

The Japanese associate 9 with a bad omen, so many people think that Apple skipped this number for this very reason, the iPhone is very popular in Japan. However, after the presentation of the iPhone 13, it would seem that this theory is completely ruled out. It’s not something that concerns Apple.
What is certain is that we’ll never know for sure why Apple ignored the iPhone 9, just as it’s unclear why he hasn’t used the letter “s” for several years. They will have their reasons, but they did not want to share them.
