In 2023, Xiaomi presented its big bet in terms of software: the company would abandon MIUI and replace its customization layer with HyperOSa renewed operating system with which they unify their entire ecosystem, since it is the system with which their mobile phones, tablets, wearables and even their electric car, the SU7, will work.
Little by little, we have seen many mobile phones receive the update to HyperOS, which includes new features for the interface (among them, an improved quick settings center) and in general it is a more efficient and smaller platform than MIUI 14, so that does not take up as much storage space. Now, Xiaomi is preparing the launch of HyperOS 2.0. Will your mobile receive this update?
The easiest way to find out if your phone will get HyperOS 2.0 is to use an app
Xiaomi recently released HyperOS 1.5 by surprise, an update that is already reaching several devices in the company’s portfolio. However, this is just an appetizer before the next major system update, HyperOS 2.0, whose we already know the first details.
New HyperOS 2.0 will be partly based on Android 15so it includes many new features of Google’s new operating system. You’ve probably wondered if your phone will receive this update, and there’s a very easy way to find out the answer: just download an app.
It is MIUI and HyperOS Downloaderan application that analyzes our device to know what model it is, what version of the software it has and what new features await it in terms of updates.
The application is completely free and you just have to install it and access it to know all the information we need about the software present on our device. There is no need to do any complex trick, activate developer options or something similar: The application first offers us all the details of the software of our terminal.
In my tests, when I accessed the application, the main screen immediately identified the mobile I am using and told me that indeed, this device will receive update to HyperOS 2.0 and Android 15. Additionally, it also informed me that a new update is available for my device, prompting me to install it. In this case, it is the latest security patch.
The application offers more options and tools, including the ability to search for information about ROMs from other regions, update system applications, and learn details about some experimental and hidden features of the system. However, it is not advisable to change system settings if you don’t really know what you are doing. On the other hand, checking if our mobile will be updated to HyperOS 2.0 is a completely secure processsince the information appears on the screen simply by accessing the application.
As of today, more than 20 Xiaomi phones have confirmed the update to HyperOS 2.0 and Android 15, and this list will grow over time.
