Let’s get straight to the point: you just bought the new iPhone 16 and the first thing you do Just take it out of the box and put the lid on it.. Protecting our iPhone is essential, whether with a good tempered glass, AppleCare and, of course, the case. You can choose one from the Apple Store and make it official Apple, or opt for another brand a little cheaper, or even buy it on Amazon or AliExpress. Until now, to choose a cover, you had to focus on material, design and strength. However, starting with the iPhone 16 and with the arrival of the capture button, choosing a new case becomes even more interesting.
Two types of case: with or without hole for the iPhone 16 capture button
One of the main new features of all iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models will be the capture button. A touch button
All this requires that the the button is in direct contact with the skinand that’s why many leaked cases show that they have a hole to reach that button. That was enough for the Future iPhone 16 buyers weigh in on whether they like it or not that the covers have a hole, particularly for aesthetic reasons.
Apple and other more special cases will not have a hole for the capture button
There were already rumors that Apple “wasn’t going to allow” its cases to have holes. In fact, there were already patents in which the buttons were capable of transmitting electricity that our fingers generate when they come into contact with the button. For this reason, Apple cases will have a button that will fill this sp ace and allow the same functions to be performed.
But what about the rest of the brands? What if I don’t want an Apple case? In that case, you have two options: choose a cheaper perforated cover or go to brands that have been able to develop technology necessary to transmit this sensitivity from the button to our finger with a cover in between.
In the meantime, AppleInsider has had access to one of the cases from the Spigen brand. A more than recognized and mid-range/high-end brand that will not have a hole for the capture button. Since Spigen, they have managed to develop a kind of “metal pin” which will transmit the same gestures we make with our finger to the capture button.
This case is the Hybrid MagFit and, although it cannot yet be officially purchased, there are already references on the Spigen website and on Amazon, we can theorize about its possible price. For example, For the iPhone 15 Pro, the price of the case is 29 dollarswell below the 59 dollars that Apple’s silicone case probably costs. Although this represents a price increase, it will increase at most ten dollars more per cover. On other sites like Woodcessories or Phonelife there are also many models of cases so you can see what the capture button will look like.
So if you are looking to buy a case for your upcoming iPhone 16, You already know what factors need to be considered. First, you like the design; second, it protects your new iPhone; and third, whether or not it has a hole for the capture button. This way, you will be totally comfortable when taking photos or videos.
