Our phones are full of functions dedicated to making our lives easier, allowing the user experience to be more comfortable. Some, for example, work in the background so that let’s never lose internet connectionWe always have the best performance when browsing or using social networks. However, sometimes they do this by affecting another feature, such as battery life.
This is the case of a function hidden among the settings of Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO mobile phones, which, although it provides advantages in connecting to networks, impairs autonomy
Here’s how to save a Xiaomi’s battery by changing a hidden setting in the system
Xiaomi Mobiles They do not completely disable mobile data even if we disable it from the settings menu because we are connected to a WiFi network. This is intentional, mobile data continues to run in the background.
In fact, the mobile wants to ensure that the user always have an Internet connection, even if the WiFi network fails or have problems. However, this harms the autonomy of our devices, so we can effectively turn off mobile data.
First, we follow these steps to access the developer options menu:
- We access the settings menu of the Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO mobile and go to the section “about the phone
- Afterwards, we press several times on the section that says “MIUI version” or “HyperOS version” (depending on the mobile), until the following message appears: “Developer options are already activated”
If Developer Options is already enabled, you don’t need to do this.
Once we have access to this hidden options menu, we follow the following steps:
- We access the Settings menu and go to the section Additional parameters
- Now we select Developer Options
- We slide between the options until we find “Always keep mobile data enabled“, and we deactivate this option
And that’s all. From now on mobile data will actually be turned off when you’re not using it. But remember that with great power comes great responsibility: having access to the developer options menu allows us to make these hidden settings, but it is recommended not to modify anything in this menu unless you know what we do, to avoid inconvenience with the mobile operation.
