X launches passkey support for all iPhone users

X, Elon Musk's social red

X, or Twitter as many people still know it, has expanded its support for passkeys as a sign-in option to iPhone users around the world according to the announcement made yesterday by the company through its own profile on the social network.

Support in The Access Keys feature was already introduced earlier this year, but the option was limited to iOS users located in the United States. Now the feature reaches any iOS user anywhere in the world.

Let us remember that Access keys are much more secure than a regular password for each of the Internet services that we use since it allows us to connect with our biometric data that we already use on our devices, whether it is FaceID or TouchID or the unlock code of our device if the previous ones do not work. Passwords are also resistant to cyberattacks such as phishing. and makes it even more secure than other verification methods such as sending one-time codes via SMS.

Apple has already introduced Passkeys on iOS in 2022 with the arrival of iOS 16 and it is also available on iPadOS and macOS in the latest versions.

If you want to use this method to access your account in XAll you need to do is follow the following steps:

  1. Access with your account in the X application itself
  2. Let’s move on to the section “Settings and Privacy” by clicking on our profile image at the top left
  3. We entered “Security and account access” and there we click on “Security”
  4. We activate “Password Key” in the available toggle and following the steps

READY! We will already have access keys in our X account. Remember that other large companies like Google, PayPal, eBay or Microsoft have also already implemented this functionality to access their applications and websites. One more small step for user security within the Apple ecosystem.
