The Xiaomi 13 has just been launched in China, but as usual in the firm, it will not arrive alone: it will be accompanied by an even more premium model called Xiaomi 13 Ultra. It has been leaked from this model that it will incorporate a spectacular zoom and a most curious way to materialize it and it is not the first time that we see it: with a periscopic rear camera.
Xiaomi has brought one of the standout features of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra camera to the Xiaomi 13 Pro, which is the one-inch Sony IMX989 sensor. But this idea of taking photography to the next level with its new high-end range does not stop there, since it has also ambitious plans for the camera of its next Ultra model.
Thus, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will stand out for its photographic capabilities having as an asset a zoom capable of competing with the dual 3x and 10x optical system of the Galaxy S22 Ultra in its periscopic rear camera, according to a rumor by Kartikey Singh and gathered through means such as Notebookcheck. This hypothetical optical zoom module would have the potential to offer higher quality and sharper magnified images.
According to Singh, “For two years no one has been able to challenge Samsung on magnification zooms, which has made Samsung lazy and they’ve been implementing the same hardware for three generations, but next year things will start to change and their monopoly will come to an end”. For now, Samsung is still the queen of zoom with its telephoto lenses.
Will the Xiaomi 13 Ultra Europe arrive? We do not know and we only have to wait, for the moment first its presentation in China. The trajectory of Xiaomi’s top-of-the-range model is erratic: this year we were left without seeing the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, but last year the Xiaomi 11 Ultra went on sale in Europe.
