One such brand is Mijia, which specializes in all things connected home; Although these products usually do not officially arrive in Europe, they do arrive with the normal Xiaomi brand, as we have seen with the Xiaomi pet feeder and waterer.
The Xiaomi Aquarium
The latest product is also intended for pets, although these are somewhat different. If you have or have ever had fish as pets, you know the long list of things you need to consider to ensure their well-being. Food is only a small part, and the cleaning and maintenance of its ecosystem is just as important.
The Xiaomi Mijia Smart Aquarium arrives so that we forget most of these tasks, at least for the most part, and simply allows us to enjoy the company of these aquatic animals. This smart aquarium does everything by itself, and in fact we don’t even have to be in front to configure it to our liking thanks to its wireless internet connection to the application on our mobile.
Although at first glance it looks like a normal aquarium, in reality Mijia managed to make it work on its own, performing the necessary periodic tasks. For starters, it is able to feed the fish whenever we want; We can open the Mijia app and press a button, but we can also schedule the times when we want the food to be released into the water.
From the app we can also control the water flow, something important depending on the species we have; some fish prefer calmer water, but it is also important to oxygenate it, for example. The temperature can also be controlled, another essential detail for keeping tropical fish, and the tank is made of an ultra-clear type of glass that lets light in; although the built-in lighting can also be turned on or off, as well as switch between different styles.
All this can be done automatically, as well as cleaning without us having to do anything. Mijia has a patented self-cleaning water pump system and a five-level filtration system. It is even able to release bacteria into the water in a controlled manner, with the aim of creating a healthier ecosystem in the aquarium for the fish. With all this, Xiaomi claims that we will only have to change the water twice a year, since the water will remain clean and with everything necessary for six months.
The Xiaomi Mijia Aquarium is crowdfunded, with an entry price of 349 yuan (about 47 dollars), although it is expected that when it hits the market it will cost a little more.
