Apps have become an essential part of our phones. It is not in vain that they have been the reason why these devices have become an essential part of our daily life. However, every time we install apps on more devices, Google knows it. And no, we are not saying this because of the interest in tablets, but rather that of clocks and televisions.
This is why you entered a new functionality in application search from the Google Play Store, to choose for what type of devices we want to install something.
Filtering by mobile, watches or televisions
The new filter button is very easy to use. You just have to click on it when you do a search in the store, but you want to install the application on a device other than a mobile.
As you can see in the images, the Android TV and Wear OS sections appear because in the account where we are performing the search there are devices with these two systems.
If we click on one of them, the list of applications will be changed and it will only allow us to search for applications for that system.
Also, we can filter by covers in case the system is Wear OS, and it is one of the main types of apps that we install on smartwatches.
When we enter the Android TV or Wear OS apps, we can choose to install them on the mobile, on the watch or on the TV, or on both at the same time. The latter is appreciated, since we’ll skip a step later if we want to install it on both devices.
It seems clear that Google wants to differentiate the devices and the apps aimed at them, as it has done with the scores of the different versions.
The new feature is already operational in the Google Play Store for everyone, although it could take a few days to show up in the millions of profiles that use it.
