you need a USB-C adapter to charge Apple Pencil

Somewhere had to cut. Apple has finally redesigned its standard iPad, which reaches the tenth generation. But to maintain a “decent” price (note the quotes because it’s now $579), Apple had to sacrifice some features, such as support for the second-generation Apple Pencil.

That this new iPad can only use the first generation Apple Pencil is not the end of the world… but a detail has many people sulking: an adapter is required to be able to connect this first generation Apple Pencil to the USB-C port of the iPad. And you need to buy it separately.

“Fixed” Compatibility

The adapter is already sold in Apple’s online store, and costs 10 dollars. In Apple’s own words, “One end of the adapter connects to the Apple Pencil and the other end to the iPad’s USB-C charging cable.” We avoided the Apple Pencil scene nailed down on the tablet, but we assume a reality in which to charge an Apple Pencil we need a cable and a charger.

This has already sparked reactions on social media:

Lightning disappears from the iPad: all models already have USB-C

This may be the most controversial decision in all the news today, I have little doubt. It alone can displace those who want an Apple Pencil to opt for an iPad Air, just so they can use the second-generation Pencil and its magnetic charging.
