If you have AppleCare+ for your Apple device and the policy is expiring, you now have more time to renew it. According to an Apple support document, customers now have 45 days to renew an AppleCare+ policy. Previously, Apple allowed 30 days. The policy change appears to have gone into effect on August 14, which is when the support document was updated.
An AppleCare+ policy can be extended for 24 or 36 months and paid monthly or annually. Pricing varies by device. Users can check their device’s coverage by signing in to mysupport.apple.com with an Apple account and clicking on a product in the My Devices section.
According to the support document, the 45-day period is available in the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and several other countries. However, in China, the period remains at 30 days.
AppleCare+ is Apple’s extended warranty program. All Apple devices come with an AppleCare warranty (without the “+”) that typically lasts for one year, with 90 days of telephone support. AppleCare+ is available at the time of purchase or can be purchased 60 days later.
