Gmail is one of those essential apps that most Android (and non-Android) users have installed on their mobile; It’s much more than a simple email manager, and the latest innovation presented today by Google proves it: Gmail cards.
In fact, cards aren’t really new to Gmail. Cards were introduced in 2020 as an easy way to get important data from an email without having to search for it; for example, about the expected arrival date of our shipment or the details of our next flight.
With the update presented today, the maps take a leap forward in terms of usefulness, adapting to the needs of modern users; In fact, we can say that soon there will be no need to read emails
In blue, the cards take up more space and better show the information they obtained by mail; Actually, view more data than everand more relevant. Cards are now able to organize essential information for a given topic, and can even be updated in real time, for example to display up-to-date information on the arrival of packages.
The extra space on the cards is also dedicated to new action buttons, which change depending on the mail type. For example, a button may appear to add an event to our Google calendar
Google has divided maps into four categories. Purchasing cards will allow you to make a tracking our packagescheck the order details and see what we purchased. Event cards will display information about the reservation at a restaurant, the ticket we purchased for a concert or the events we are organizing in the next few days.
The invoice slips, as the name suggests, will indicate the amount that we have to pay and we will even have a button to pay them. Finally, travel cards will allow manage reservations
The usefulness of maps is such that Google has decided to remove them from emails. Now cards can also appear in a new section of the application, called “Coming soon”at the top of your inbox. There we can see the files linked to our emails, which will allow us to obtain a summary of what we have pending, such as orders that have not yet arrived; Cards will appear based on context, for example if the order is nearby.
The new Gmail Cards will now start reaching Gmail users on Android and iOS, starting with Shopping Cards; Later the rest of the card categories and the Coming Soon section will be added.
