Google has been steadily improving the camera of its phones, an effort that has a positive impact on a famous application: the GCam or modified camera application. With the Google Pixel 9, the software has taken a leap forward in terms of naturalness and AI, the intelligent editing options of Google Photos have also been expanded. Don’t have a Pixel 9? Google is bringing camera improvements to previous models.
Astrophotography Takes It to the Next Level with Pixel Camera 9.5
We anticipated the change in the Google Pixel’s night shots back in the summer: the leaked APK of version 9.5 revealed a manual mode that offers a selector for different night shots, including astrophotography. This way, it’s much easier to customize it.
The new Pixel camera update is already rolling out, even though it probably hasn’t reached you yet. That’s exactly what happened to us, both on the Pixel 8 Pro and the Pixel 6. Fortunately, it’s possible to use the corresponding APK.
Do you also want to update the camera app on your Google Pixel? Just follow these steps:
- Go to APK Mirror and download Pixel Camera 9.5 APKM update.
- You need to download an app installer that comes with your Google Pixel. Our favorite app is APK Mirror, it’s on Google Play.
- Click on the downloaded file, it should open with the installer.
- You will have automatically chosen the ideal configuration for your Google Pixel. Click on “Install the application”.
- You will see that the phone asks you to update the camera app. Accept.
- And that’s it. The file is secured and signed by Google.
The main new feature concerns the astrophotography mode: go to “Night Vision”, click on the moon icon (bottom right) and you will see the time cursor and a new mode up to four minutes. If you choose this option, the time will be extended to this time, which is four minutes. Although it is the application that estimates the specific period.
