Any cheap mobile that you can buy right now in the market has the same limitations and for the same reason: because of the processor used. With the SoC (System-on-chip), most of the components are integrated into the chip and therefore choosing one or the other defines the characteristics that the mobile will have.

From 5G connectivity to the quality of the photos we take, it all depends on the SoC; and for this reason, on many occasions, the power of the processor is not so important, but the functions it has.
This will be the new Snapdragon
This context is important in understanding why the new Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 looks so good. Qualcomm’s new mid/low-end processor hasn’t been officially announced yet, but we already know pretty much everything about this next version thanks to the leak posted by Evan Blass on Twitter.
Blass didn’t just share some data, he literally released the full Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 spec sheet, leaving very few mysteries for the official presentation, which we’re sure will have bothered Qualcomm a lot. And it is clear that Qualcomm wants to brag about this launch, judging by what we find in the technical sheet.
What is most striking is not the power of the processor, but what it is capable of. Mobile phones that use this processor will be able to use functions more typical of more expensive models, such as 4K recording with HDR
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 will also bring artificial intelligence functions to cheaper phones, thanks to the inclusion of a Hexagon Tensor accelerator for machine learning. 5G connectivity will also be included, so we expect this technology to be adopted by most manufacturers. Other welcome additions are Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6E and Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4 Plus.
The only thing the leak didn’t reveal, ironically, was the processor itself. We only know that the cores will be able to reach 2.2 Ghz, but we do not know how many they will have. At the very least, there will be a clear advantage over the last generation in moving to a 4nm manufacturing process; Compared to the last generation’s 6nm, this should result in more efficient chips that run cooler.
At the moment Qualcomm has not announced a presentation date for this Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, but surely we will not have to wait long given the magnitude of this leak.
