Streaming apps are extremely popular these days, but few have been around as long as YouTube. The engineers of the company have a great knowledge of user needs, as shown by some of the new functions that are already reaching many users in Europe.
Choose the default resolution for YouTube videos
Today we started to see a new feature that we have been waiting for a few weeks, the ability to set video resolution to default.
As you surely know, streaming platforms reduce the quality of videos when we are in low coverage situation, but sometimes the lowest resolution also appears, 480p, when we are under high speed Wi-Fi coverage.
We can now set the resolution at which all videos with our profile will be opened in the YouTube app for Android. For that, we follow these steps:
- We open Youtube.
- We start to play a video.
- Click in the upper left corner, on the icon with the three dots.
- We select the quality.
- There we select the last option, the one that appears in blue text and takes us to the app settings.
- When this settings section is open, we choose how we want the videos to behave under Wi-Fi coverage or under mobile coverage.
If we only want to change the resolution of a video, we can do that in section 5, choosing any option except the last one we discussed.
How to scale YouTube videos to full screen on Android
If you want to enjoy your videos in full screen on YouTube for Android, there is a setting that allows us to do it easily.
This new function is activated by Google from its servers, so it has not yet reached all profiles. We were able to verify this in the same Android app, with two different accounts.
