YouTube for Android is updated with a new useful gesture

YouTube for Android is the ultimate app for watching videos in Europe. This application eliminated a year ago the gesture that allowed to click on progress bar to browse the video, which makes us skip part of the video. The many wrong keystrokes were the reason for its removal.

Since then, there has not been a gesture that allows it to be done in one movement. Luckily, YouTube for Android finally launches a new gesture

this partially brings that option back, as they did from Android Police.

New gesture on YouTube for Android

Currently, we have a way of doing the same thing that this gesture allowed us, although more steps are needed. YouTube first makes us touch the screen, so that the progress bar is displayed on it. Then we have to click on it and drag to take us to the desired point in the video.

This option is not complicated, but it is less comfortable because it requires more steps. Fortunately, a new gesture arrives in the application. In this case, we only have to press the screen then hold down

about it (anywhere). Then we slide left or right to move around the video, as you can see here.

At the top of the screen, YouTube will display a message announcing that this gesture has been enabled. It is presented as a much more comfortable way to move around in a video

, thus being able to skip a specific part of it, or if we want to go back to review something.

This new gesture began to show in beta 16.31.34 of the application on Android. It looks like Google is releasing it on the server side, so it’s possible that even if you have this version of the app on your mobile, you don’t have this gesture available yet.
