We have already talked previously about YouTube Music, Google’s music streaming platform with which the company intends to compete with alternatives such as Spotify or Apple Music, among others. In addition to being able to listen to our favorite music and watch music videos, YouTube Music also promises to include podcasts within the platform.
Everything seems to indicate that Google is testing new features of artificial intelligence which could soon reach YouTube Music users. Apparently, Google’s goal is to harness the power of generative artificial intelligence to create personalized radio stations quickly and intuitively.
YouTube Music is testing a feature based on generative AI to create personalized radio stations
As we read on 9to5Google, some YouTube Music users have started seeing a feature within the app that allows them to create custom radio stations. from instructions of text. The feature we are talking about seems to be in testing phase, so it is not available to everyone.
Apparently, users who can use this feature will see in the food from YouTube Music, a card with the phrase “Ask for music the way you want it” (“ask for music as you want”, in Spanish). Clicking on this card opens a chat interface where we can ask what music we would like to listen to.
If we don’t know what music to ask for, YouTube Music shows us several recommended options (we can press the one that interests us the most to start listening to music of that style). In addition, the existence of an option called “Surprise me!” (“¡Sorprendeme!” in Spanish).
As soon as we write the music we would like to listen to, YouTube Music will create a custom radio station that we can start listening to immediately. A brief description is included in the generated station and the text appears “Created for you” (“created for you”, in Spanish).
As we can see in the available screenshots (shared by a Reddit user), This is an experimental feature. The company has not confirmed whether the feature will be available to more users soon, although it wouldn’t be surprising if it does.
Without a doubt, it is an interesting way to request music on the platform without having to search for it yourself. This could be especially useful if we do not clearly know the name of the musical genre we would like to listen to, since we can try to describe it or use a reference.
