Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg says he tested the Apple Vision Pro and its Quest 3 is better for several reasons
The Apple Vision Pro, Apple’s space computer, surprised everyone who was able to try it. Most of its specifications and sensors are unique and almost everyone agrees that there is nothing like it on the market. However, Mark Zuckerberg doesn’t think the same and said that Meta Quest 3s are better than the Apple device.
The CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, shared a post on Instagram where he claims to have already tested the Apple Vision Pro and left some impressions and some reasons why his Meta Quest 3 is a better device. Zuckerberg says Meta Quest 3 is better “for the vast majority of things people use mixed reality for”:
- Meta Quest 3 is 7 times cheaper than the Vision Pro.
- It is capable of providing high quality with large screens “just like Vision Pro”.
- The Quest is much more comfortable, weighing 120 grams less.
- No cables get in the way when you move.
- The field of vision is wider and the screen is brighter.
- Vision Pro exhibits motion blur when you move. Search is much more precise in Quest 3.
- Meta Quest 3 has precision controllers, just like hand tracking, and Quest’s hand tracking is more precise.
- Quest’s library of immersive content goes much further.
- You can watch YouTube or play Xbox.
Zuckerberg also says he’s surprised the “concessions” that Apple had to make to provide a higher resolution screen than that offered by the Meta Quest 3, thus sacrificing the “comfort” or “ergonomics” of the device. Here you are somewhat right, the Apple Vision Pro is absolutely right.
Apple Vision Pro displays have spectacular resolution never seen in a device like this, although it really is the design of the device makes it heavier than the competitionusing materials like aluminum or glass instead of plastic.
I know some fans get upset every time someone dares to ask if Apple is going to be the leader in a new category, but the reality is that every generation of computing has an open model and a closed model. And yes, on mobile, Apple’s closed model has won. It’s not always like this. Going back to the PC era, Microsoft’s open model was the winner. In this next generation, Meta will be the open model, and I really want to make sure that the open model wins again. The future is not yet written.
The truth is that Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest 3 don’t compete in the same league, Apple’s device is superior in all its specifications and is capable of doing many more things thanks to a chip as powerful as the M2. The device that will compete with the Quest 3 has not yet been launched and will be the inexpensive Apple Vision.
