Ah … the year 2020. This year that will stay serious in all history books, especially in several areas on our planet earth, shows us through the COVID-19 pandemic how our world is connected and that we are all connected are. An additional reason (if necessary) to respect one another on our little pebbles floating in the middle of the Milky Way!
But at the video game level, was 2020 such a bad year? Well, for my part, I would say no. On the contrary, I found it very rich and even decided to give you a couple of top 10 games that shaped me the most this 2020!
10) Astro’s playroom
Well I admit he stole the demon soul place! But understand me: The discovery of the DualSense, the new controller for the PS5, MUST come through this game which is one of the best platform games of the last few years, nothing less! And … it is offered with all PS5 ^^! Only mistake: you have to find it, the Playstation 5, and also pay the at least 400 required for the console, since it’s an exclusivity … that wouldn’t have the same taste at all on any platform other than the PS5!
9) Ori and the Will of the Wisps
“Xbox has no exclusive”. Ok, ok, but … Ori 2, as I like to call it, is still a gem in Xbox Game Pass (and, ok, on Nintendo Switch and PC too)! But deep down I still see it as a game in Microsoft’s DNA, and it’s a real little masterpiece. If you love Metroidvania and laMario / Rayman Legends 2D platformer then this game is for you! I love this game so much that I feel guilty about not buying it # XboxGamePassUltimate… What if we made up for it by launching it all over again on Nintendo Switch? Especially since it only costs 30 in the physical version on this console! When I told you this game is perfect …
8) Final Fantasy VII Remake
I never really knew the original version of Final Fantasy VII. And if I have to admit that I was enormously interested in the scenario, I was (unfortunately) always allergic to the graphics of the Playstation, console that I couldn’t know. All of a sudden, this Final Fantasy VII Remake was very good and I had a great time there! I can finally vibrate with millions of players just hearing the names Cloud, Tifa and Sephiroth. I feel like I saw 20 years of POP Culturerate when I was growing up and that while playing the Nintendo Switch I couldn’t keep up with the version of Final Fantasy VII that I find … Dirty on my notch. So … I’m waiting impatiently for this FFVII remake to continue!
7) Genshin Impact
Okay, this one, I’ll admit it came out of nowhere. Basically, I thought this was going to be an ordinary copy of The Legends of Zelda Breath of The Wild. And yet … between its very careful character design, its fairly generous, freely playable game system (to the point that I’ve never had one in the game, but I don’t lack the desire), its sublime music, its story more interesting than I would have thought and the correct follow-up of the game from its developers (Mihoyo), I have to admit that thisGenshin Impact is one of the games that shaped me the most in 2020. Better again, it’s the second game I loved to stream (shortly after Animal Crossing New Horizons)! The Twitch sessions in this game are always super interesting and the Menhin Impact community is really top notch and caring. A must, especially since the game is … free!
6) Yakuza like a dragon
Ah … as a fan of the Yakuza series, I couldn’t pass Yakuza Like a Dragon! This Yakuza was released in France at the end of the year and directly in the Xbox Series S | X version (but also in Xbox One S and X) offered. It not only offers us a 60 fps mode for Xbox Series S as it does for Xbox Series X. (Even if, I admit, 30 fps are not a problem in this episode with turn-based combat), but also a real “restart” the series that allows to seriously market not only “finally” the West (finally with French subtitles please), but also for new players to start the adventure without worrying about old episodes! A huge hit for anyone who completely loves Japan and its entire universe What The Fuck. Many thanks to SEGA and Koch Media for all of their efforts in promoting the series in the West. At Otakugame.fr we appreciate that!
5) The Last of Us Part II
Do I really have to show you this game? A real masterpiece, a pearl offered by Naughty Dogs, the fathers of Crash Bandicoot, but also by the Uncharted series. We are simply entitled to the most beautiful game on PS4 (don’t be afraid of words) and even to the launch of the PS5 game, we remain in awe of the work and the level of detail that “the dogs”, as we love to call them, offer. .. a game that makes you go through all kinds of emotions, so the events in the game are so full of emotion and were happy to feel so caught up in a game!
4) Spirit of Tsushima
I admit, Yakuza: Like a Dragon is a really great game. But … I have to admit that Host of Tsushimalui is still a bit superior. Sucker Punch, an American game studio, has perfectly managed to transcribe the atmosphere of the island of Tsushima and its very special history, which has been shaped by various attacks by the Mongols. Great spectacle and, above all, another game that every Japan fan simply has to have in their game library. Definitely loved it!
3) Cyberpunk 2077
Ah… Le mal-aimCyberpunk 2077. Maln, with bugs causing crashes mainly on PS4 (Fat and Slim) and Xbox One (Fat and S), the game is still on Xbox One X / Xbox Series S | XetPS5 playable … I would say apart from the PC version which usually works quite well – with the exception of the various errors that occur when immersing and that you are all familiar with!
And yet … Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the games I spent my best moments playing last year. The FPS view, coupled with the various choices (and relationships!) We have with the various protagonists of the game, reminded me of the implication I had when I played the first Mass Effect trilogy … something that no other game (not even The Witcher 3) had made me feel this far!
The universe, the writing of the different characters, their attitudes, my own story, my character’s evolution during the game, all of this really kept me going until the end – well, that played the game and even hated it, but it was my choice that led me to this end. Cyberpunk 2077 is a game that has played with my feelings throughout the adventure and if you can overcome the bugs and the like. Open world level details, you will discover an amazing game with an incredibly rich universe, especially if you are passionate about Japan … In short, you will understand: I’m in love with Cyberpunk 2077!
2) Microsoft Flight Simulator
COVID-19 was a reality in 2020 (but unfortunately also in early 2021, with a new curfew from next Saturday) that influenced me on my travels – obliged to stay with my little one from Martinique ^^! I admit I love to fly and when this flight simulator came out in 2020 it was a real relief.
Imagine a game in which the entire earth is modeled. But with almost photorealistic graphics! It’s an incredible tour de force run by a French team – Asobo. I was absolutely thrilled with the game, even though I played it on my little Core i5 + GTX 1060 Ti at less than 20 fps … I even bought ita HOTAS (leSaitek X52)and … we believe it. If you know that a flight simulator costs tens of thousands of dollars and can have it at home, that’s just totally crazy! This game even pushed me to buy a new PC (I’ve been reasonable, it’s just thatan HP OMEN Obelisk 25L with a Core i5 9400F and a GTX 1660 Ti) among other things to play it in 30 fps / 1080p … And with the updates Special Japan (and Special USA) I am not ready to let go of the game, I love to relax on it and discover new nooks and crannies … A. Relaxing game, calm, that doesn’t suit everyone, but if you like it, don’t let go!
1) Animal crosses new horizons
In summary: Animal Crossing is the ONLY game in the history ofma chane Twitch(andYoutube) for which I have spent more than 10 hours in a single life without a break (11 hours and 22 consecutive minutes to be exact) … and you saw 820 the hour I write these lines (you are insane)!
Animal Crossing New Horizons is more than a game, it’s a real social phenomenon that was born during childbirth. In the real virtual world in which we move, this game was a mouth of fresh air that allowed us to escape from our house to go … On our virtual one. One that we can format to be our picture!
And most of all, it’s the ability to travel (or host them yourself) with other players that creates the beauty of this game: what a joy to show our work to other players and to offer them objects they don’t have and that we think will go perfectly to their island, and discover new objects every day, new ways to make money, or quite simply … to trade.
Animal Crossing New Horizons is a true haven of peace that encourages collaboration in a world where most games are meant to be competitive. Without hesitation, my game of the year 2020 is – but be careful, my game of the year 2020 won’t necessarily be your game! In any case, it’s a game you should at least be interested in because if you persevere, there are thousands of hours of gameplay in sight – even if on my side, once my terraforms have turned out as desired, I’ve given up the game a little ^ ^!
There! That’s all for these TOP 10 of my games of 2020! And you, which games shaped you last year? And what games are you expecting in 2021?
