The GOAT GX-600 from Ecovacs comes without a boundary wire or orientation posts for navigation; it navigates like a robot vacuum cleaner. As an early Prime Day offer, Amazon is offering a 100 euro discount.
Last year, Ecovacs introduced the GOAT G1, a new generation of robotic lawnmowers that uses orientation posts to navigate without the need for boundary wires. Since then, the device has topped our big robotic lawnmower comparison.
The next generation, the G1-800 and the G1-2000, also use this technology.
The robotic lawnmower with robot vacuum genes
However, another robotic lawnmower, the GX-600, was presented at CES and is a little different: unlike the G1-800 and G1-2000, the GX-600 uses the technologies that have long been used in Ecovacs’ vacuum robots.
The Goat GX-600 has an outdoor charging station to which the robotic lawnmower automatically returns when the battery is running low or the mowing work is done, which is the parallel to the other devices.
In addition, the manufacturer promises a fully automatic lawn mowing system that requires no setup or boundary adjustments – neither with a cable nor with a boundary post.

- Maximum area m2: 600
- Maximum gradient: 40%
- Mowing performance/day m2: 300
This is made possible by the combined vision and SmartEdge technology, with which the robotic lawnmower automatically detects grass and non-grass areas such as stone paving and sidewalks. This should reduce the installation effort by more than 90% and also enable “Press&Mow”, i.e. the direct start of a mowing process without first teaching the mower.

The robotic lawnmower is now doing its rounds on our test site and a detailed test report on the device will be available shortly.
Like a vacuum robot, the GOAT GX-600 uses AIVI obstacle avoidance, which detects and avoids objects and obstacles. A floating blade set ensures a consistent cutting pattern, which flexibly adapts to uneven surfaces to ensure a reliable and consistent cutting pattern.
In addition, the GX-600 detects precipitation on the IPX6-certified housing and not only avoids driving through wet grass, but can also be easily cleaned with a jet of water.
The manufacturer offers a 3-year warranty on the GX-600, and the battery is protected by a 2-year warranty.
Differentiation from G1-800
The GX-600 and the G1-800 are both designed for smaller gardens. The GX-600 is designed for simple garden layouts. Because no virtual boundaries are drawn and the robot works “by sight”, it requires clearly defined areas of operation such as a fenced garden.
We have also prepared the comparison between the different GOAT models from Ecovacs in text form, shown in the table below.

If there are flowerbeds embedded in the lawn, for example, these should be structurally demarcated, after all, the “goat” should not attack the tulips. If there is no structural demarcation to the neighbor’s garden, the GX-600 simply mows that too.
For more complex garden layouts, we recommend using a robotic lawnmower from the G1 series, for example the immediately available G1-800 for gardens up to 800 square meters.
