New success numbers and a promise for the future: Developer Infinity Ward commented on the plans for Call of Duty: Warzone. In an interview with the Washington Post (Paywall, via Charlie Intel) announced the two studio bosses Patrick Kelly and Dave Stohl that CoD: Warzone has passed the 100 million mark. This is how many players have (or had) installed the free Battle Royale.
The developers also go into the future of Warzone and Call of Duty as a whole. Work on the next season is already underway and the rough timetable for the coming years has also already been set. Infinity Ward has set out to increase the quality of the content. Patrick Kelly sums it up like this:
“Some things that we want to do in terms of modes and game world take more time. So of course they have to be added later. But we think about these things on a multi-year basis. And I’ll tell you one thing: We’re doing our best right now. to top what has been achieved so far. “
Publisher Activision also reaffirmed its commitment to the brand’s previous strategy. CoD Warzone will remain “the figurehead and the heart” (translated from “front and center”) of the CoD universe for many years.
Big changes are coming soon, as the roadmap for Season 3 of Cold War and Warzone shows:

The relationship between Raven and Infinity Ward
Infinity Ward is the main developer and shouldered most of the work and responsibility in the development of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and its Warzone offshoot. However, Raven Software was involved from the start.
With the incorporation of the 2020 Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War, Raven then took the helm and became responsible for maintenance and public relations, as the Washington Post notes with reference to Dave Stohl:
“While Infinity Ward has left the majority of the maintenance work on Warzone to Raven Software for the time being – whose designers, according to Stohl, worked with Infinity Ward from the beginning of Warzone development and not only after the integration of Black Ops: Cold War – Kelly is working and Stohl is currently working on the details for Season 6, which will begin at the end of 2021. “
Raven Software is an experienced developer who has helped develop classics such as Hexen and Quake 4 since it was founded in 1990. For more than ten years Raven has been working alternately with the three CoD developers Infinity Ward, Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games.
