Wow, what a great year it's over! In 2019 there were so many incredible indie games that we couldn't commit to any order. Basically, they all belong in first place. And that's why we hereby celebrate a premiere at igamesnews: a top 10 that only consists of first places. But 13 games. And a goose. Crazy, isn't it?
1st place: Disco Elysium
At the Game Awards, Disco Elysium won the awards for best story, best role-playing game and best Indiegame. Logically, it also comes in first place with us. At first glance, the indie title with its oil painting look is a bit more reserved than complex large-scale productions, but it wipes the floor with them. The crime story, which is critical of society, takes place in a world that spreads the sinister distorted image of a neoliberal utopia and captivates from the first second of the proud 50 hours of play. Instead of fighting, you fight most of the conflicts with smart skill checks in the style of classic pen-and-paper role-playing games, and as a special highlight, your character is in constant dialogue with his inner angels and demons – just like in the Pixar masterpiece Everything is upside down , Brilliant!
