Steam cannot take away the Midweek Madness this week either, but beware: the will already start on Thursday big Halloween sale. If our 14 recommendations do not appeal to you, then save your money, because one day later you will have the next opportunity to browse (and we will of course also recommend you for Halloween games). Already provides a foretaste our list of the best horror games of the moment.
That being said, Midweek Madness this week is pretty cool and eclectic. Shooter fans rush to gears, open-world enthusiasts can get hold of Watch Dogs cheaply and multiplayer aficionados have Warhammer: Vermintide 2 and Hunt: Showdown. Not to be confused with Huntdown, that is also reduced, but something else. Let’s start
Highlight of the week: Hunt: Showdown
1:31
Hunt Showdown: Halloween gets so scary in the shooter highlight
Genre: Multiplayer-Shooter | Release: 27. August 2019 | GameStar rating: 92 | price: 20 dollars (reduced by 50 percent) | Offer is valid until: October 28, 2021
We can’t recommend Hunt: Showdown enough, because this multiplayer shooter is truly a masterpiece in 2021. In the zombie-infested swamps of the American South, you have to defeat a boss as a die-hard hunter, bag the prey and then disappear safely. Sounds simple, but you share this goal with eleven other hunters.
No other shooter currently brings sound design, gunplay, teamwork and weapon handling to the point like Hunt: Showdown. No wonder that the number of players is steadily increasing. In the current Halloween event you can also unlock some cool seasonal bonuses – and the fact that you are rewarded for matches one way or another dampens the frustration of possible defeats a bit. Because that should also be said: Hunt: Showdown is tough. If you’ve played Rainbow Six: Siege, expect a similarly steep learning curve.

More exciting offers
In addition to Hunt: Showdown, there are tons of other offers, but we’ll limit ourselves to what we think are the best.
- Gears Tactics: If you like XCOM, you will love Gears Tactics. Costs reduced by 60 percent, only 16 dollars.
- Chicken Police – Paint it RED!: A dark noir adventure with … um … chickens. Colleague Mary says it’s always worth it for 12 dollars (60 percent discount).
- Warhammer: Vermintide 2: Axes, swords, co-op and hordes of Skaven – Vermintide brings the premise of Left 4 Dead into the Warhammer universe and makes a lot of fun. A clear recommendation for 7 dollars (75 percent discount).
- We Happy Few: You like Bioshock? Then check out We Happy Few. The game is reduced by 90 percent and worth a look for 6 dollars.
- Hades: Definitely one of the best games of 2020, an unforgettable action trip into the Greek underworld. Reduced by 40 percent to around 15 dollars.
- Watch Dogs 2: The hipster humor takes some getting used to, but Watch Dogs 2’s open world is still worth a trip years later. Reduced by 80 percent to 12 dollars.
- No Man’s Sky: Infinite expanses and meanwhile also an infinite amount of things to do. No Man’s Sky is an unforgettable sci-fi journey – also in co-op. Reduced by 50 percent to EUR 27.50.
- Dead by Daylight: The multiplayer phenomenon is just as impossible to kill as Jason Vorhees. Enormous numbers of players, extremely intense battles. Costs 10 dollars reduced by half.
- Huntdown: A cyberpunk comedy arcade shooter for 8 dollars (50 percent discount). Looks cool.
- By Kickers: Old Rainbow Six is long dead, but Door Kickers keeps tactical combat alive in its own unique way. Costs reduced by 80 percent around 4 dollars.
- Resident Evil 7: One of the best horror games in recent years. Costs just 10 dollars in the sale.
- Unravel: If you feel like playing a charming jump & run game again. Unravel currently costs 5 dollars, the co-op successor is available for the same money.
- Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines: Unfortunately, Bloodlines will probably be the last big vampire role-playing game for a while. But hey, it’s still worth it in 2021. Reduced by 50 percent to 10 dollars.
All games in price comparison
Like every week, there is of course a table with a comparison of all the offers from popular shops. And don’t forget: There’s another sale on Halloween.
