Mark this day in your calendar: August 15, 2024 is probably the most important date for Hunt: Showdown since its release.
This is because the biggest update in the Extraction shooter’s six-year history will be released on this date. Crytek plans to release the upgrade to the new CryEngine version 5.11, a completely new map and extensive detail improvements all at once.
The development studio is now revealing what these improvements look like in a series of YouTube videos that appear about once a week. We’ve summarised the most important information here.
New Recruitment and Prestige 2.0
The way we get new hunters in Hunt: Showdown in the future will change fundamentally. And the prestige system after level 100 will also be revised. Here are the facts:
- The distinction between Tier 1–3 and Legendary Hunters is abolished, instead there are Rarity levels from »common« to »mythic« for all hunters in the entire game.
- 19 fixed hunters are unlocked through normal game progress, plus shop and DLC hunters; all unlocked hunters can always for 100 Hunt Dollars be recruited.
- Each recruited hunter always receives a set of three random traits, but no loadout. Free Hunters
- Trials rewards such as Blood Bonds and special skins will be added to Prestige-System taken over; unlocked weapons immediately receive all types of ammunition.

Necromancer Change and Ballistics
The gameplay design and balance of Hunt: Showdown changes drastically in some places. In addition to the new bullet ballistics, there are some trait changes. Here are the facts:
- In addition to regular traits for upgrade points, there are now rare traits that can only be found in the world, as well as Burn Traitsthat disappear after use.
- The revive ability Necromancer is now a burn trait and can therefore only be used once; solo hunters return with full health once, but lose Necromancer afterwards.
- Projectiles now drop depending on caliber and barrel length physically (Bullet Drop) and hit below the targeted point; hits over long distances require more experience and skill.

New loot system, traps and fall damage
Crytek is making many small adjustments to make Hunt: Showdown more rounded and less cumbersome overall. These include the following detailed changes:
- Fallen can now be placed in many more places on the map and even attached to walls, windows and at steep angles, which should encourage creativity.
- To the Refresher kits of ammunition, health and equipment as well as dead hunters are no longer limited to two interactions per match; so every player can now fill their pockets at these stations.
- Fall damage is being revised and should now function more comprehensibly and be less error-prone.
- Sounds of gunshots, explosions and flying bullets simulate their respective Sounds now physically accurate even over distance.

New interface
The menus in Hunt: Showdown are considered overloaded and outdated. Crytek is therefore cleaning things up and giving the shooter a completely new UI.
- Console gamers You no longer have to move the cursor through the menus, but can navigate directly through all options using the analog stick or directional keys.
- Questlines, the Trials mode, the black market and the library will be completely deleted and replaced by new systems in 2025.
- Im Recruitment screen For new hunters, up to 39 hunters are displayed simultaneously in grid view to avoid long scrolling.
- The traits menu now also shows significantly more traits at the same time and comes with favorites sorting and a glossary.
- A fold-out Quick menu is designed for quick navigation and offers filters for weapon comparisons, skin filters, item details and more.
