Activision announces war zone 2 Last week was very successful. The free-to-play game, based on Modern Warfare 2’s new engine, game systems and general mechanics, attracted more than 25 million players in just five days.
The publisher announced the milestone today, making Warzone 2 one of the largest launches in Call of Duty history.
The original Warzone had 6 million players on its first day, growing to 15 million after two days. It’s unclear how these numbers compare to Warzone 2, but it’s interesting that Activision chose five days as its new barometer.
Still, reaching 25 million players in less than a week is a milestone worth celebrating. Warzone 2 has the benefit of being a sequel, of course, and having interesting new modes like DMZ. It’s also out of the best-selling Call of Duty of all time, Modern Warfare 2, so it’s unlikely to be a huge hit.

While the new battle royale experience is very different from the original Warzone, some things haven’t changed. Of note: the return of the load. However, getting full gear, or just a decorated primary weapon, now relies on a different approach. That means you still need to know the best primary weapons and the best loadouts for season one meta.
