Publisher Take-Two is on everyone's lips due to the Rockstar titles in its own portfolio, but also has other well-known game series such as BioShock or Mafia to offer. In the future, thanks to the new in-house studio 31st Union, another IP should also ensure success.
Take-Two Interactive and 2K Games are still on an expansion course and have now given the go-ahead for their third own development studio with several branches. It had previously been announced that veteran Michael Condrey should lead a new 2K studio in Silicon Valley; this has now started with the final studio name 31st Union.
The development of the new developer studio started in February 2019 when Condrey was won over. This is known to players around the world as co-founder of the call-of-duty makers of Sledgehammer Games and as a former COO and director of Visceral Games, so he has made a name for himself above all in the shooter and action genre , I support Tyler Michaud as Head of Strategy, who previously served as Vice President of Product Management at Publisher Activision.
In the future, the studio will also establish a European branch in Spain and will become the third multinational 2K studio after Cloud Chamber, the creators of the next BioShock, and the Hangar 13 studio, which is known for the Mafia series.
What 31st Union is working on specifically for 2K has not yet been made public when the studio name was announced. However, job advertisements on the official website have requirements for experience in the genre of online multiplayer action games, so the new game is likely to be located in this area.
In a statement, Michael Condrey himself spoke of an "ambitious and innovative title". Tyler Michaud at least confirmed that it will be a completely new game brand: "We are creating a development environment specifically for a new brand and are guided by our passion. We believe that a wide range of perspectives and experiences are required to get one to create real global blockbusters with a passionate fan base. "
