HP Velotechnik from the Hessian town of Kriftel near Frankfurt is known for bicycle and e-bike constructions that break with the usual. Three-wheeled e-trikes with a comfortable reclining seat are already among our e-bike highlights. At the Eurobike in Frankfurt (July 13th to 17th), the manufacturer will be presenting a world first: the first single-track recumbent bike in the 45 km/h fast S-Pedelec class.
Presentation of HP Velotechnik Speedmachine S-Pedelec
A 1,000 watt Z20 RS rear wheel motor from Neodrives provides the drive. The lying position should not only be comfortable, but also streamlined. Even the “aero handlebar”, an in-house development, is dedicated to the aerodynamic lying position.
Thanks to 40 Newton meters of torque, the top speed of 45 km/h can be reached within 8.29 seconds, according to the manufacturer. With typical use, the battery power is sufficient for a distance of 60 kilometers.
price and availability
With the full-suspension, 28.5-kilogram Speedmachine – the model is also available without a motor – the company is primarily targeting commuters. Cyclists can also equip it with up to four panniers, which shouldn’t be a hindrance to driving stability. Hydraulic disc brakes, a standard LED lighting system from Busch & Müller and a large rear-view mirror ensure safety.
