Gaming News 5 important video games similar to GTA are waiting for the sixth work in the series!
3D games in open worlds, sandboxes and more or less urban universes have become popular thanks to the overwhelming success of GTA 3. While the sixth installment in the Rockstar series is getting a lot of attention, we’re taking advantage of the end-of-year vacation. year to bring you “GTA-like” games that deserve your attention.
Smart little ones
No, you will not find any GTA episodes in this article. The goal is also to talk about other series/games
If we had to choose just one, we would go with the third episode of Just Cause. If only because it was released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, which makes it still playable on our modern machines today, and also because it is still a good, uninhibited game that stays true to its initial promises. Published by Square Enix, Avalanche Studios’ title is very close in concept to Just Cause 2, is fun, has a good longevity (between 20 and 25 hours) and pays tribute with its effective “missions/”liberations/challenges” structure. We can criticize it in the long run for some problems with finishing touches, ambition or even repetition, but it remains terribly entertaining and relaxing. If you like the style of the game, you can also pick up Just Cause 4, although it divides fans a little more.
What a pleasure to rediscover Vito’s adventures! Even after all these years, the second episode of Mafia License hasn’t aged a bit. The plot is still compelling and the characters are still lovable. In terms of content, this Definitive Edition doesn’t add anything new compared to what Mafia 2 has offered in the past. This is an XXL version of the title that brings together all single-player DLCs, namely The Betrayal of Jimmy, Jimmy’s Vendetta and Joe’s Adventures, as well as all outfit and vehicle packs including War Hero and the Vegas-dedicated pack. The only real novelty of this remaster – and its main interest – lies in its technique. The more detailed graphics are now displayed in 4K on PC and consoles that allow it.
Saints Row is not a sub-GTA. While the Rockstar series relies on a deep plot and characters, especially in the last two episodes, Saints Row stands on its own two feet and has a more gangsta and caricatured side, even if that means flirting with the absurd from time to time. If that sounds good to you, The Third was designed specifically for you! Even crazier than usual, it brings enough freshness to still defend itself today. Saints Row The Third Remastered offers a huge dose of fun and plenty of customization options, all with updated graphics on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Certainly one of the best GTA likes on the market. “Sleeping Dogs” puts us in Wei Shen’s shoes. The latter has to work on both levels, carrying out missions sometimes for the mafia and sometimes for the police, all against the background of personal revenge. The title “United Front” offers an extraordinary journey into the heart of the exciting world of the Hong Kong Triads. Thanks to its mechanics and the themes it covers, Sleeping Dogs will appeal to all fans of the genre. In case you’re wondering, this Definitive Edition contains revised and corrected graphics. In reality, however, one must admit that the difference is not obvious. You can also enjoy the 24 DLCs released so far, starting with the two main contents: Nightmare at North Point and Year of the Serpent.
Watch Dogs Legion chooses to return to the sources in terms of plot and enriches the gameplay with new elements that make it the most successful episode of the trilogy. Its system, which allows the player to recruit anyone in no time, delivers what it promises in terms of gameplay. The city of London is excellently built and also pleasant to look at.
Certainly Legion has a classic campaign and has some characteristics of previous works, with an outdated physics engine and a not very intelligent AI, but Ubisoft’s software has enough qualities to convince fans of the genre. The game options are numerous and ensure ever greater freedom of approach.
