A video game heritage preservation study was conducted on the July 11, 2023 day pass! The Daily, let’s go!
The Video Games History Foundation conducted a study entitled 87% of Games Are Missing: The Disappearance of Classic Video Games. The study therefore explains that 87% of video games, or almost 9 out of 10 games, are simply no longer readily available. This is because these titles are not compatible with modern hardware or have not been ported or re-released. A sad conclusion, but not the only data from the study: no generation of consoles had a rate of more than 20% title reuse.
