4K hasn’t arrived everywhere yet, and a new standard is already appearing in more and more living rooms: 8K. You can find out which streaming services are already offering 8K content here.
- Overall, the range of native 8K content is still extremely sparse.
- You can stream the third season of the series “Das Boot” on Samsung 8K TVs in that resolution.
- Short demo sequences can be found on YouTube, some smartphones can record with 8K.
Do you already have or want to buy an 8K TV, but are wondering what content is already available in this resolution? Many manufacturers see this type of TV as the future and direct successor to the already popular 4K format. In this text we clarify where you can find films, videos and series in 8K.
8K supply still very tight
Overall, after research, it can be said that content available natively in 8K, both in streaming and via live TV, is still extremely rare. No major streaming provider such as Netflix, Amazon Prime or Disney+ currently delivers content in this high resolution – in most cases 4K HDR is the end.
Also interesting…
Samsung TV Plus offers a small but fine exception with the third season of the Sky series “Das Boot”. You can stream this on all Samsung 8K televisions via the in-house streaming service. Anyone who owns a television from another manufacturer will get nothing here – “Das Boot” is also the only series so far that has been implemented in this way.
No TV station that can be received in Germany offers live content with 8K resolution. However, you can find some videos on YouTube that aim to demonstrate 8K. In addition, some smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra allow filming in ultra-high resolution – you can then view these recordings later on the big screen.
