A big announcement out of nowhere, fans were divided

A new Avatar: The Last Airbender game has just been revealed, but it’s already causing major concern. What does he have in store for us?

Currently, when we talk about Avatar: The Last Airbender (which we’re cutting from now on), we’re mostly thinking about the live-action series on Netflix. The latter is coming soon and is as fascinating as it is frightening. At the same time, it’s never easy to suggest a live-action adaptation. But contrary to all expectations, there was a new announcement regarding the franchise. A new game is being prepared and… it might cause misunderstandings for some people.

A new Avatar game is revealed, but there’s a catch

In the video game space, Avatar hasn’t always been a huge success. You only have to look at the feedback on Steam for Quest for Balance to see this. The title, released in 2023, greatly divided the community. On Valve’s platform, the average of 71 reviews ended with “Mostly Negative”. A score that won’t make your mouth water. Therefore, fans hoped that another production would make up for it. An adventure that everyone would agree on. However, the dream may not come true.

The announcement came a few hours ago: Maximum Entertainment has signed a partnership with Paramount Consumer Products to develop an avatar game. Nothing scary so far, but we got a little description of the principle. And this is the problem. It will obviously be a multiplayer fighting game, and that has raised some eyebrows. We observe doubtful and even fearful opinions, but we must put all this in to perspective. In fact, we didn’t even have a picture to remember, so we won’t be too quick to judge. FYI: It will be released in early access in 2025, without further details.

You’ve probably guessed it, but it’s not yet clear who the studio will be in charge of this huge project. There are many theories and some players believe that it is awarded to PlatinumGames. He’s the one behind The Legend of Korra for a reason, and since we’re still in the Avatar universe, he could very well come back for a new production. However, it is important to note that Maximum Entertainment recently restructured into a single company and consolidated its publishing labels (including Maximum Games). Consequently, the company may well decide to take care of it, which would not be without logic.
