During an interview with Esquire magazine, the actor half-confirmed that he would not survive. After all, he announced that it would make no sense to deviate from the scenario The Last of Us 2after staying relatively faithful to the first game with Season 1. A statement implying that Joel will die in excruciating pain.

I want to see Joel’s death again, I want people to rant about it. I did it and for me it’s part of the story. This is the real version of the story.
