A boat ruins the launch and the community has a great response

Boat, community, great, launch, response, Ruins

Dragonflight is here and Azeroth is once again filled to the brim with players. At least if the MMO allowed it, the launch in North America didn’t go as Blizzard had hoped. Game crashes were not uncommon, as were error messages when logging in. The reason: A completely overwhelmed boat.

The needed fresh start is the hoped-for breakthrough

Where is the boat?

The new addon Dragonflight contains some new content. In addition to the new class, the Dracthyr, the Dragon Islands and the quests located there are probably the biggest innovations. To get there, players could look forward to a small ship journey – at least that was the plan.

In reality, however, the ship has seldom entered port at all. When players finally stood on the wooden planks, nothing was done for a long time. The ship was hopelessly overcrowded and players are also the one time or another, let’s call it turned. In other words: The game crashed. A second attempt was not possible too soon, the error message World server is down often locked out players completely.

One meme after another

And what do you do when the free time is dominated by loading screens and error messages? Obviously fire up Photoshop first to create memes. This is how Reddit user ReflectedPower finds the boat stuck in the Suez Canal – it can happen, as we now know.

Athiendas, on the other hand, compares the launch with the Shadowlands expansion, which was actually heavily criticized, and, using the words of Thanos from the Marvel films, concludes that it actually went quite well.

Blizzard’s solution was then to provide a portal to get to the Dragon Islands directly. But this way also caused problems and crashes. The new addon obviously still doesn’t run completely error-free in North America if you use the associated Twitter-Account tracked.

Things are looking a little rosier in Europe. Blizzard confirmed per Twitterthat there can be problems with individual quests here, too, but a big faux pas like with the boat doesn’t seem to occur.
