Avatar 2: The Way of the Water has been running in almost all cinemas around the world since last Wednesday and the first characters have finally arrived. Was that first weekend a success? Yes and no.
Avatar 2: The Way of Water is certainly THE film event of this year’s end and the guy draws everyone’s attention because he is extraordinary. James Cameron has indeed bet heavily on his second venture and it is imperative that he amass no less than $2 billion to make the operation profitable, yes it is absolutely enormous.

In France, the opening day was rather timid and the film only recorded around 250,000 admissions. That’s a good score, of course, but not as good as the first feature film with us. The film had grossed no less than $15.8 million worldwide.
this sunday evening, avatar 2 completes its first launch weekend, an important step that also provides an opportunity for interim results, and the result is mixed.
By the time his lines are written avatar 2 recorded approximately $435.5 million, of which $300.5 million was international. A nice record well above the first film, which was around 278 million in the same period.
On American soil, however, the disappointment is very great. The film grossed only $135 million, which is a far cry from the expected $150-170 million. Although the figures here are also well above those of Avatar (2009) with 77 million dollars, avatar 2 is a far cry from monsters from the marvel stable like Dr Strange 2 or recently Black Panther 2 who have amassed $187 and $181 million respectively on American soil.
However, nothing is lost yet Avatar 2: The Way of Water everything should explode quickly. The World Cup is over and the latest blockbusters have mostly exploded shortly after release. As a bonus, James Cameron’s film can boast of a small success, most reviews are very good, as is the feedback from most viewers. We’ll have to wait a few weeks now to have the final verdict and know if we have the rights to the other planned feature films or if it all stops there avatar 3 next year. Something we remember could happen if Avatar 2: The Way of Water fails in its quest for profitability. James Cameron must be breaking a sweat.
