A bright future for the license, says the studio

bright, future, license, studio

While the first work celebrates its 17th anniversary, CD Projekt RED promises us a bright future, especially with The Witcher 4, even if patience is inevitably required.

This year, the first adventures of Geralt of Rivia with CD Projekt RED sauce celebrates its 17th anniversary. As the bulk of the franchise approaches, the Polish studio took the opportunity to retrace its unusual journey, to say the least, including the absolute masterpiece The Witcher 3, the Cyberpunk 2077 debacle and its long road to redemption. The opportunity to also look to the future, including The Witcher 4, which according to its deputy CEO promises to be “bright”… but is a long way off to begin with.

The Witcher 4, Cyberpunk 2 and others, CD Projekt RED has a promising future

Previously, CD Projekt RED was only a games publisher in Poland and experienced its first breakthrough in the world of video game development with the release of the first game The Witcher in 2007. A very ambitious but perfectable role-playing game that pays homage to one of his most popular novels in national universes, Wiedzmin, by Andrzej Sapkowski. We know the rest, with “The Wild Hunt” a second work of excellent quality and absolute dedication. With The Witcher 4, the Polish studio wants to give Geralt of Rivia a break to start a brand new trilogy in the now iconic dark fantasy universe.

A prospect that seems to greatly excite CD Projekt RED, as its deputy CEO Michał Nowakowski emphasizes on the occasion of the franchise's 17th anniversary. “ I was there when the first game came out, and even in my wildest dreams I didn't know where the company would be so many years later. I can't wait to tell you more about what a bright future holds for us. In time, of course », he concludes with a wink. We know a good part of this future: The Witcher 4, a remake of the first 17-year-old game on the Unreal Engine 5, another game in the license of The Molasses Flood or even Cyberpunk 2.

However, CD Projekt RED wants to be careful after a far too aggressive marketing campaign surrounding Cyberpunk 2077. In order not to repeat this bitter mistake, we would like to take the time to share news about all these games that seem very promising to come. The first of these will definitely be The Witcher 4, unfortunately at an as yet undetermined date. In any case, we are watching all of this very closely.
