Despite its many successes, Nvidia is also encountering problems, especially with the recent decision on GeForce Now, which is not well received by gamers.
Nvidia recently unveiled several changes to GeForce Now, its cloud gaming service, some of which are already causing a stir. These new features include monthly playtime limits and changes to subscription tiers. These adjustments, particularly the gaming cap, sparked mixed reactions on social media.
New subscription options and playtime limits for Nvidia GeForce Now
First of all, Nvidia has renamed its mid-tier subscription. The “Priority” level now becomes “Performance”. With this change comes an improvement in resolution, going from 1080p to 1440p at 60 frames per second. At the same time, Ultimate subscribers can now benefit from ultrawide mode. Another interesting new feature: Performance and Ultimate users can save their graphics settings from one session to another.
The big and most talked about news, however, remains the introduction of a monthly playing time cap.
Options for old subscribers
Long-time “Founders” subscribers will retain their unlimited access and will not be affected by this new cap unless they choose to temporarily upgrade to the Ultimate subscription. Nvidia also offers a one-year subscription option before December 31, 2024, so you benefit from unlimited access for the duration of the subscription.
These changes, and in particular the limits on playing time, have sparked criticism in the GeForce Now community. SOn Reddit, several users consider this decision to be a deterioration in the service.
