11 Bit Studios unveils its new production: South of the Circle for consoles and PC. Following This War of Mine, the team takes an interest in a unique Cold War adventure.
11 Bit Studios currently has three projects in development. Frostpunk 2, whose release date is not yet known, and South of the Circle, which has just been announced in video and images.
South of the Circle: a poignant adventure?
11 Bit Studios (Frostpunk, Children of Morta, This is War of Mine) team up with State of Play to port South of the Circle. A game available on Apple platforms (Mac, iPhone, iPad and Apple TV).
A narrative adventure with a strong visual identity that “delivers a story of love, cold war and promise”.
Antarctica, 1964. A crashed plane with its tail up. Peter, a Cambridge professor, pulls himself out of the rubble and braves the cold in search of help. As he desperately tries to escape the ice, the line between past and present becomes increasingly porous. Here is a love story between two colleagues, Peter and Clara, set during the Cold War.. un Narrative adventure game about memories, survival and the consequences of refusing to face your past.

South Of The Circle is one of those loves at first sight. The game’s narrative sensibility drew us in right away. It has a strong focus on storytelling, inspired by world-class cinema. Actors from Game of Thrones, Chernobyl…
To flesh out the characters of South of the Circle, the State of Play studio recruited actors from the small and big screens. Several have starred in HBO’s flagship television series.

A solid cast for a journey as unique as This War of Mine? We’ll have to judge when it comes out. South of the Circle is slated for release “soon” on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. As for State of Play, you might know the team behind Lumino City, a BAFTA-winning title.
