The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will soon be released with content that is causing controversy, forcing the studio to explain this decision to make a play option payable.
The upcoming release of a new game on Gollum should quench the thirst of JRR Tolkien fans. But since the unveiling of the various editions, some have grimaced, not ready to empty their wallets to fully immerse themselves in the universe.
The precious issue of the Gollum controversy surrounding The Lord of the Rings
In addition to the standard edition of Lord of the Rings GollumDaedalic Entertainment presented a Precious Edition with several bonuses. An edition that will not be commercially available. This is a purely dematerialized version with various digital content that can be accessed online. The game will be well distributed in physics on consoles, but without any other special benefits, except for a pack of 6 emotes for the hero.
In the list of The Lords of the Rings Gollum Precious Edition digital bonuses, there is one that gets a lot more talked about than the others. If you pay more, you can even play the entire title in Sindarin, the Elvish language. Immersive voiceovers professionally created as announced by the development studio. Those happy with the regular edition will be able to hear characters speaking in Sindarin from time to time, but that’s about it. It will therefore be impossible to enjoy ALL dialogue in the Elvish language. A gift for the most die-hard fans.

Daedalic Entertainment’s response to critics
This paid DLC with additional Sindarin voices – which should be available separately – did not make all players happy. Daedalic Entertainment then wanted to defuse the situation by providing details about this election. The studio emphasized the fact that the dubbings were done by professionals and that they were intended for Tolkien enthusiasts.
Elves in the game occasionally speak in their own language, Sindarin. The VO Sindarin expansion adds additional lines of dialogue to some background characters. When traversing the Forest of Great Fear or other places in Middle-earth, Gollum can overhear various conversations between the Elves. These dialogues are grafted onto the atmosphere and world structure. Daedalic went one step further and hired voice actors trained by our lore experts in Sindarin. This is a DLC for true Tolkien enthusiasts who want to delve even deeper into the world of Middle-earth.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store). May 25, 2023.
