Once again, the world of French content creators is rocked by a recent controversy. Explanations.
First let’s go back to the origin of the controversy for those who haven’t had the opportunity to follow the case. In a column published in the JDD, 150 personalities from social networks, YouTubers and streamers wanted to denounce the excesses of a minority and defend their economic model. All of this appears to fall within the framework of a bill regulating their activity, which is due to be examined by the Economy Ministry this week. The entire grandstand can be read on the website JDD
A platform that caused controversy
Scams, counterfeits, dubious business practices, some have given the impression in recent months that they are representative of our industry, although they are only a minority. It is their abuses that we wish to denounce first.
Here’s what we can essentially read about in the gallery. Apparently, it was enough to cause an outcry on social media and spark a controversy. In fact, many have accused the creators of defending a malicious model and, in the wake of this signature, confirmed their guilt. The timing is all the worse that many have accused the said makers of navel gazing while the social situation in France is sinking into chaos. Which actually seems much more complex.
A gradual dissociation
Because of this, content creators wanted to distance themselves by communicating very quickly on the topic. This applies in particular to Dr. Nozman, who is known as a science popularizer on YouTube.
When I see the reality and the things proposed, I think that for the most part they are necessary to go in the right direction and that they are aimed squarely at real problems and dangers.
Squeezie, who needs no introduction, also reacted fairly quickly:
I am not affected by these laws, I have nothing to lose with this reform aimed at regulating immoral product placements made mainly by malicious influencers
So does content creator Gotaga, who doesn’t hesitate to point out the potential trickery:
He is also joined by Cyprien who tweets:
So this forum of the JDD has (rightly) raised questions about the way it was developed and in particular about the way the names of the signers were managed. Now it remains to be seen what will become of this affair and whether other content creators will gradually distance themselves.
For your part, what do you think of this pole?It isMicrophone?
