The makers of a scrapped Star Wars film have finally revealed their ideas for their project. It could have been truly huge, but perhaps all is not lost.
The Star Wars saga may be legendary, whether we like it or not, it has been in the spotlight of critics for 25 years and since the prequel was published. And the last trilogy didn’t help matters. Fortunately, sometimes there is a certain consensus, as with the feature film Rogue One or the series The Mandalorian. But ultimately, regardless of feedback, the cult license is valid forever and there are still plenty of projects in the pipeline, with the exception of this one.
Star Wars film from Game of Thrones creators revealed
Producer Kathleen Kennedy ensures George Lucas’ iconic franchise never fades. To this end, several new Star Wars films and series were announced last year. But it’s now common for Lucasfilms to veto certain ideas, and the creators of HBO’s Game of Thrones, David Benioff and Dan Weiss, know this better than anyone. Your feature film won’t go beyond the writers’ room, and that’s a shame. In an interview, the two men roughly expressed what they had in mind for “Star Wars.”
“We wanted to do The First Jedi [Les Premiers Jedi]. In summary, we wanted to tell the story of how the Jedi Order was born, why it came to be, the first lightsaber… And we were deeply dismayed when Rian Johnson called his film “The Last Jedi.” By calling it that, he completely destroyed the obvious title of what we were working on.”
Ultimately, Lucasfilm didn’t want to do the First Jedi story. We had a very specific idea in mind, and in the end they decided they didn’t want it. And we completely understand that. It’s their business, their license, but we weren’t the droids they were looking for.

Star Wars film “The First Jedi” completely abandoned? Maybe not. When announcing the next feature films, the production announced that James Mangold (Indiana Jones 5) will star in a part about the origins of the Jedi Knights, the scenario of which takes place before the events of the Old Republic.
