She-Hulk is definitely not a Marvel production like the others. The latest episode of the Disney+ series confirms this in a disturbing way.
As always when it comes to Marvel today, there will be two sides. Those who are seduced by the humor and lightness of She Hulk, a tone that now and has long shared all productions of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and those who are tired of having the same formula on the menu for years. But with the first season featuring the Hulk’s lawyer and cousin ending with an episode every Thursday on Disney+, the two camps are likely to converge on one point.
The final episode of the adventures of the green giantess is unexpected to say the least, raises a number of questions and could upset the entire MCU.
In the latest Marvel event series, we find Tatyana Maslany (Jennifer Walters / She-Hulk), Ginger Gonzaga (Nikki Ramos) Jameela Jamil (Titania) or even Markus Ruffalo (Bruce Banner / Hulk).
Of course, the most striking recent appearance is the return of Charlie Cox, tormented daredevil from the Netflix series of the same name, much lighter at Disney, like his yellow suit, from the character’s origins. But given what the end of episode 9 offers, Whose show is this? in the original version, the presence of the militia lawyer suddenly recedes into the background.
Indeed, not a great evil to be defeated in a Dantesque battle, but a broken fourth wall like a puzzle, with the appearance of KEVIN (for Knowledge Enhanced Visual Interconnectivity Nexus), a rather disturbing robot that produces movies and series, to explicitly lace reference to Kevin Feigthe kingpin of the MCU.
A role reminiscent of that of Mojo, enemy of the X-Men who offers cruel and violent programs in which the mutants are the participants against themselves. And yes, the female Hulk asks KEVIN about the gang of Cyclops, Wolverine and Co and their future presence in the MCU.
Breaking the fourth wall is nothing new in Marvel Comics, and if dead pool 3 Already did for Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine, we thought the anti-hero would be something of an exception, confirming the rule theoretically imposed by the MCU and some form of continuity.
But since then, the Multiverse has crept into every corner of Marvel’s productions, to the delight of fans, but also to act as a very rough patch on points from not-very-very-solid stories…
It remains to be seen how the character of She-Hulk will return in the next Marvel productions, which seems to skate a bit with a complicated blade and delayed films.
