It was a rumor and now it’s official. Logitech just officially introduced the Logitech G Cloud Gaming Handled. A serious competitor for the Switch?
During the Logi Play conference, the Swiss manufacturer Logitech, best known for its peripherals, presented a new console: the famous Logitech G Cloud Gaming Handled, which we’ve been talking about for a while.
At first glance we can see a lot of similarities with the Nintendo Switch, especially given the design and the layout of the buttons. There’s a joystick on each side for an asymmetrical layout, a directional cross and Logitech G button on the left, classic A, B, X, and Y buttons, and a home button on the right. In short, you see where we come from.
Despite these similarities, the G Cloud stands out in one important respect: It is designed exclusively for cloud gaming via well-known services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming, GeForce Now or Steam Link. To make life easier for the user, Logitech has these three services pre-installed on its console as well. There was even close collaboration to ensure optimal integration of console controls.
In this regard, note that Microsoft states that the remote play remote game feature is natively accessible on G Cloud.
Logitech Console screen and setup
The screen is a 7-inch IPS LCD panel in Full HD (1920×1080 pixels) with a refresh rate of 60 Hz. Inside the case there is a Snapdragon 720G processor, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage space, expandable via microSD card. Unfortunately, without 4G or 5G, the console only offers 802.11 ac Wi-Fi connection, so it only needs to rely on use at home or somewhere with a good Wi-Fi connection.
For now, Logitech is only offering a sale in the US and Canada for $299.99 before the console jumps to $349. If the console fails, there’s clearly no risk of it arriving in Europe.
