For millions of fans around the world, Final Fantasy’s simple words are enough to evoke indescribable emotions. The excitement that comes through FF16 since its announcement at PlayStation Showcase in September 2020 is proof of that. A hype that doesn’t let up, as evidenced by fan reactions following the re-release of the trailer during the PlayStation Showcase on May 24th. To be honest there will only be the chocobos. In previous games you could travel by canoe, boat or car. But since our game in Final Fantasy 16 is based on the world map and fast travel from that map, we found that there was no real need for additional movement systems. So yeah, right now we only have walking and chocobos.
Actually Final Fantasy 15 legal driving, but it was an open world game, which is not the case with Final Fantasy 16. In episodes 7 to 9, there were multiple modes of transport to move around the world map (boat, car, train…) but fast travel was absent. The choice fell on Creative Business Unit III, a division of Square Enix responsible for development Final Fantasy 16
